The Southwest area of Portland features more mature trees, established neighborhoods with older homes in a variety of styles, and a comfortable family friendly feel.  There are several parks and nature areas in the Southwest hills, making it easy to get away from it all while still being in the city.  If you enjoy a more rural feeling neighborhood, while still being located fairly close to the city, Hillsdale might be a good fit.  Hillsdale is located within easy driving distance to downtown Portland, but offers more of a small-town suburban feel with quieter streets, and a family-friendly vibe. Here you will find homes that are well-kept with lush, green lawns and larger lots.  There are plenty of shopping areas in the neighborhood, and a neighborhood Farmer's Market.

Hillsdale features many homes built from about the 1940's through 1980's although a few older and newer homes are mixed in.
