Portland Art Museum

Portland Art Museum Guide –  The Art Museum of
Portland is a popular visiting spot when you’re looking for things to do in
Portland.  “PAM” is one of the largest art museums in the
country with 112,000 square feet, and while it doesn’t always rival some of the most popular art
museums in sheer volume of visitors, it makes up for that with impressive rotating exhibits
featuring some of the most well loved artists throughout various periods of
art history.  The permanent collection features art from ancient times to
the present and there’s always something fascinating to contemplate. “From
the first acquisition in 1895 to the donation of Vincent van Gogh’s The
Ox-Cart
in 2007, the Museum’s extensive collection has grown to include
thousands of works, many of which were gifts from Museum founders and generous
members of our community.” (Source: PAM.ORG)

I’ve visited the art museum to see the Pre-Raphaelite exhibit,
M.C. Escher exhibit, and several others.  I always look forward to seeing
what’s new at the art museum.  Spending an afternoon strolling through gallery
after gallery and enjoying the quiet ambiance, beautiful rooms, and hardwood
floors is one of my favorite things to do in Portland.  You can become a
member of the museum and take advantage of free admission, special
showings, discounts to the art museum store, priority entry to art museum
events, and more.  If you’re going to
visit the museum frequently, a membership is a good bargain.  You can
event
rent space at the art museum
for your next event, or even your have
your wedding at the Portland Art Museum
!

The Mission of the Portland Art Museum is “to serve the public by
providing access to art of enduring quality, educating a diverse audience
about art, and by collecting and preserving a wide range of art for the
enrichment of present and future generations.”
