Portland Blog: This Week in Portland November 2 - November 9 2013

As November kicks off, so does the rain and colder temperatures. You'll find that Real Portlander's delight in this weather. The scarves and boots and sweaters come out. The hats and gloves will be worn until April whereupon they are immediately replaced with tank tops and short-shorts on the first 50 degree day. Until then, you won't see much skin around these parts.

This is the perfect time of the year for 1) coffee shops 2) breweries and pubs 3) dining IN. A good friend once said that "any vegetable can be transformed by a simple toss in olive oil, a few shakes of salt and pepper and a few minutes in the oven". Well, there is no better time of year to test and prove that theory. The fall and winter vegetables are ready and your stew pot is cold. That should be your mission to solve today!

Head over to your favorite Portland Farmer's Market and get a bag full of fresh veggies and other treats. Listen to the band with some hot cocoa. Enjoy the crisp fall air and the extreme variety you are sure to find. Embrace the season!

Watch the Skies by Rob Creighton Garrison

We had yet another fireball fly-by on Wednesday. I heard a report of it on KINK as I drove to my work gig that morning, and since then I've read and heard via the news that sightings have been rife the world over lately. The answer we're getting from Those Who Should Know (or is it Those Told To Tell Us?) is that the Earth has swung into the path of comet debris. That's the easy answer. Very pragmatic. Likely, even. Except...

Hey now, if you'd been reading what I've been reading, you wouldn't give me that look. It's crystal clear that somebody (someTHING?) is interested in how we Earthlings swing it. Since the 1940s we here in the Great Northwest have been buzzed by seemingly whole armadas of Them's-Not-Us. Read this stuff here and here and here, and tell me it doesn't ping your radar.

Oh, don't give me that “they're only observing us, they mean us no harm” junk. Seriously, an intelligent race from another star system traveling all that way to “observe us” would be like us flying from Portland to Florida to watch two drunks fighting in a trailer park. They WANT something from us, y'all. Like our resources. No, scratch that, not enough left. Hmm...our bodies! To snatch! Yeah, because you know they've been getting our television signals for decades! They don't just want to steal our bodies, they want to rip off our screenplays! What, they can't think up their own stuff? I'll bet they like hip-hop.

When you've finished reading all the materials and doing all the rest of your research on the WWW of Truth, maybe you'll thank your lucky STARS we have websites like UFO Stalker, which tracks every incursion into our airspace by potential villains from the aether. You think they're all ET wanting to borrow a phone? You're a patsy! Follow that big guy over there with the book that says “To Serve Man”. Yeah, you do that.
