Portland Blog: This Week in Portland December 28 - January 4 2014

If you're reading this, not only did you survive Christmas (the traffic, the inlaws, the lines, the indigestion...kidding) but you lived to tell the story AND you're ready to do it again on New Years 2014! You're ready to make some resolutions (ahem, intentions) and/or head out and hit the town and celebrate with the city, right? So let's get started!

My new years resolutions:

1. Buy less STUFF and give other stuff away to others who may need it.

2. Always remember to bring my reusable bags to the grocery store.

3. Eat local, organic and healthy. Shop more farmers markets.

4. Support local businesses with my dollars (vs big-box stores).

5. Get outside more, walk more, bike more. Sit and read even.

6. More work/life balance.Shut the laptop at the end of the day- period.

7. Provide the birds a natural habitat full of wild foods and water source. Portland area Hummingbirds, for instance, love Oregon Grape.

8. Recycle diligently.

9. Get out more and experience the beauty of Oregon. Lake Billy Chinook, majestic Mt Hood, the great oregon coast, Eagle Creek and more.

10. Grow as many of my own foods as possible. And even though beer is not a food, this includes our incredible hop garden which makes a great IPA every late summer.
