The zoo provides a fun and safe setting for this Halloween tradition, where costumed trick-or-treaters learn about wildlife in a fun scavenger hunt throughout the zoo. In keeping with the zoo's mission, Howloween aims to be educational as well as fun. Scavenger hunts and activities are themed to teach kids about animals around the world, and their habitats and adaptations. Goodie bags filled with candy and prizes will be given out for completed hunts at the zoo's exit. As part of a commitment to earth-conscious operations, the Oregon Zoo participates in Green Halloween – a nationwide initiative to make Halloween healthier and more eco-friendly. There will be a small amount of Halloween candy in each bag, but we are careful to source products that do not contain palm oil. Best suited for children 3-12.

New for 2012! If you've seen the "Ghost Hunters", "Ghost Adventures", or "Paranormal State" TV shows, then this is the right adventure for you! Unexplained mysteries, ghostly adventures, and spooky stories abound on our “Beyond Bizarre” tour. If you like the paranormal, weird, or wacky, let us be your guide to an evening of adventure. Believer or not...people of all faiths and backgrounds, including skeptics, are welcomed. At the start of the tour, we hand our real ghost hunting equipment just like that used by professionals and on TV. We then set out visiting known ghostly places and getting behind the scenes into what hauntings are all about. Unlike other ghost tours, this is not a theatrical performance where we carry lanterns and dress up in period costumes. It's a true view into the reality of paranormal investigations, the equipment and techniques we use, and how we separate the truth from the hoaxes.
Portland's new Leftbank Annex to raise money for Equity Foundation of Oregon. Bent Halloween is the annual fundraiser for The Equity Foundation. The spirit of Halloween came to life on October 30, 2010 at Portland’s new Leftbank Annex to raise money for Equity Foundation of Oregon. The packed event featured “bent” costumes and a non-traditional, sophisticated and provocative celebration of the haunted season. Patrons mingled in the Annex, which was transformed into an eerie and “off-kilter” environment. They danced to the sounds of DJ Aquaman and DJ Lunch Lady, and enjoyed other antics and entertainment throughout the night!
